It’s high time I updated the carving shed blog!
Spring is still with us, and I have been busy carving down in the shed, when not gardening and enjoying a lot of natural history here in Sooke and beyond… photography, wildlife viewing, gardening, bicycling and when possible out sourcing wood with friends and other carvers.
I have also been carving to build my inventory for home studio sales, special exhibits, art shows and upcoming events, such as these blocks made from Yellow Cedar, and Garry Oak cutting boards… and new Cedar wood bowls!

Secret Garden Tour
Sunday June 2nd, 10 am to 4 pm
Visit the Phoebewood exhibit and sale at the Sunriver Community Gardens Orchard, 2380 Phillips Road.
The annual Sooke Secret Gardens Tour is a major fundraiser for the Sooke Philharmonic Society and has always delighted gardening fans as it has evolved over the years. Members of the Sooke Philharmonic Orchestra will again entertain attendees at various venues throughout the tour!

Foggy Mountain Forge
Thursdays through to Sundays, 11 am to 4 pm
Foggy Mountain Forge is located at 10430 W Coast Rd, Shirley – just past French Beach.
Foggy Mountain Forge, a father-and-son artisanal blacksmith and metal fabrication duo, shows collaborative wood and forge art. It has a gift shop upstairs from the blacksmith & machine shop.
Stoked Wood Fired Pizzeria and Market
Opens 4pm every week day except Wednesday, and noon on weekends. Please double-check opening hours on their website.
