This yellow cedar large vessel has a rich amber colour as it has “oxygenated” since it was carved a few years ago. The birds eye is magnificent. Burls of this size with so much birds eye are very hard to come by. This burl was cut from a big yellow felled cedar, located up in a clear cut near Port Renfrew. The old yellow cedar tree, when felled, was left behind – too disfigured and konky to be milled, but a treasure for wood carvers to salvage and carve later.
This bowl was sold to a family who wanted a special bowl for christening their baby… to be handed down throughout the generations as a family heirloom.
